Callie Goes to School!

Wow! I had no idea I'd let this page go for so long. I hope everyone is doing well and that 2010 has gotten off to a great start for you. Although our family has had a rough start, we're doing well. God is good all the time and all the time God is good! Callie is doing well, too. Last Friday, May 21st, her illustrator and I gave a short presentation of the illustrating and publishing process at two elementary schools where Jake teaches art classes. The students were phenomenal - even though their teachers felt they were climbing the walls with the end of the school year just around the corner. Nonetheless, they were attentive, asked great questions and enthusiastically welcomed me - both into their assemblies and into their individual classrooms. It was encouraging to see that so many young people enjoy writing - the future looks bright as these young authors pursue their interest and develop their talents. I foresee many great stories, books and novels in our future! Thank you to all who have supported me in this venture and for those who have purchased the book. Remember, with graduations, bridal and baby showers "in season" now, Callie's adventures are a great gift for parents, expectant parents, elementary age graduates (Kindergarten, especially) or even college grads planning to head into the world of elementary school teaching. Enjoy your day!

Holiday Blessings

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! 2009 is coming to a close and God has been very faithful, bringing us all to the brink of a brand new 2010! Thank you to everyone who has journeyed with me in brining Callie the Calico Calf to life. If you've read her adventures, I hope you've enjoyed them. If you have yet to meet her, I encourage you to take the plunge and explore our world through the eyes of a curious calf. She could very well bring a fresh perspective to your everyday life. The book would also make a wonderful Christmas gift for any of the young readers on your list this year.

Callie is Ready!

I'm happy to let you know the book is finally available for order! Thank you for being patient during the publishing process - it's been a fantastic education. I'm sure your young readers will enjoy Callie's story and her adventures. As parents, this is a great book to read to your children at bedtime, or any time you have to read together. The same for grandparents - Callie and her stories are enjoyable and fun to share with the next generation of young readers.

Callie stepped out into the pasture. CRUNCH! “What’s that noise?” she wondered. She took another step. CRUNCH! There it was again. What could it be? Meet Callie, a curious and odd-looking little calf, as she steps out into a wide world full of delightful as well as sometimes scary new experiences. Born in the big, red barn on a stormy spring afternoon, Callie has a strangely patterned hide with black, brown, and orange spots. It makes her look more like one of the calico barn cats than a normal calf. In spite of the odd looks and the questions she gets about her appearance, she never lets “being different” slow her down. Whether she’s exploring the pasture at night or following the road to the Big City, Callie, the Calico Calf has a nose for adventure. Join Callie as she experiences the county fair. Laugh with her when she discovers frost and snow for the first time. Cheer for Callie as she learns to accept herself for who she is, regardless of the unkind words from others. Wherever she goes and whomever she meets—the farm hound dog, a mountain lion at the zoo, or even a little lost barn kitten—Callie is sure to have something exciting to tell her mother at the end of the day!
